San Deigo's Balboa Park and the Panama-California Exposition were profiled. The exposition, held in Balboa Park in 1915, was put together to celebrate the opening of the Panama Canal. San Diego used the exposition to promote itself as the first port of call for ships traveling north after passing west through the canal. Balboa Park remains a major tourist destination in San Diego.
C-SPAN's Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their "2016 LCV Cities Tour" in San Diego, California, from November 5-11, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter Spectrum and Cox Communications cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.
